Baratang Island is situated in the North and Middle district of the Andaman and Nicobar islands, which is approximately 150 km away from Port Blair, with an area of 242.6 square km.
Bartang Island is known as ‘Ranchiwalas Island’, because at the end of the 19th-century the Ranchis, who were settlers here experienced violent political uproars. With this disruption, many locals converted to Christianity.

How to get there :
One can visit Havelock through Government-operated ferries or by private cruise. After reaching there, local buses are available which connect the jetty and village on an hourly circuit.
Places to Visit in Baratang Island
Limestone cave
Limestone caves are formed over millions of years as a natural cavity underneath the surface of the earth. The caves wear a shade of yellow and white and to a good extent are untouched by human hands (well.. the top at least).
These are the conical shapes you see hanging from the roof of the cave. Water reacts with carbon dioxide to form carbonic acid which drips through the roof of the cave making calcium carbonate deposits. The deposits harden over a period of time to form stalactites.
How to get there :
From Baratang Jetty you have to buy a entry ticket and a ferry ride through dense mangroves and from there a 10 min walk to reach to the Lime Stone Cave.

How to get there :
After seeing the Limestone Caves, when you come back to the Baratang jetty, from there you need to take local jeeps that take you from there to a footpath leading towards Mud Volcano.
